Word from the Pastor - January 2012

Welcome to 2012. Once again it's time to start this year with a Daniel Fast. Why? For many the reasons are varied. Some are in need of a long awaited healing or a miracle, or freedom from addictions and bondages; still others are waiting for their dreams to be birthed, or are wanting a fresh encounter and deeper more intimate and powerful relationship with the Lord. To sum it up, if you're serious about your walk with the Lord and desire to know His will for your life the Daniel Fast is a perfect start to the year. We ask God to raise the bar in our lives yet we are unwilling to raise the bar for ourselves. Why have too many believers in the past ignored the discipline of fasting (food)? Doesn't fasting demonstrate the seriousness of our prayers. Fasting also proves to us the power we truly have over our flesh. We've all had our share of flesh inspired eloquent monologues that availed nothing. Maybe you've never fasted before but you are able. Start with one day and see if you can go three. Then when you reach the third day, see if you can make it to 10 or 21. But you have to see the end before you can even start. Expect that in this 21 day journey God will release His anointing, favor, or blessing in your life as you present yourself as a living sacrifice (Rom. 12:1). The results of your fast may not be evident until after the fast is over, but let this fast be a declaration that you are not content to go through this year the same way you went through last year.
